Prestige Car Hire is delighted to announce the continued sponsorship of Esmee Hawkey moving into the 2019 season, with a season-high finish speaking volumes for Esmee’s impressive progress to date.
It was looking like a podium finish until the final moments, where a car tap left Esmee spinning from second position to fifth in the third last lap at the legendary Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit.
Esmee was, however, credited with a double-points finish, a fantastic result enjoyed by Prestige Car Hire MD Ken Specter.
The weekend started with Esmee’s best qualifying of the year, where she finished fourth fastest in the first Pro-Am class run and one better on a second set of tyres in the closing minutes of the session.
After a mandatory inspection left a rival disqualified, Esmee was promoted to second position on the class grid.
“We needed to make a bit of a change on the car and then put the new boots on and managed to put in a time that was third on the grid… But that became second when Dan Vaughn was disqualified,” Esmee said.
“I think it was my best qualifying of the year!”
A series of fourth-place finishes throughout the season has resulted in Esmee finishing fifth in the Pro-Am standing of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB, a fantastic achievement considering some unlucky situations.
The PCH team couldn’t be more proud of Esmee’s year, believing the 2019 season is going to be her biggest and best yet.
Our Highlights of 2018…
Taking a look back at 2018, the Silverstone Speed Trials in March and the Brighton Speed Trials in October are two events that stand out for the Prestige team.
Silverstone allowed the team to spend some quality time with Esmee, enjoying a delicious lunch and seeing her work on track times around the circuit… But that wasn’t the best part.
PCH Manager Craig Harris was the envy of the whole team when he was invited to drive the Porsche 911 Carrera as part of the Porsche Driving Experience.
“I was able to drive in traction-free conditions and choose which areas of the track to test out… It was so much fun,” Craig said.
The 911 represents the original sports car concept; lightweight construction, maximum performance, and optimum traction and grip.
Another standout was the Brighton Speed Trials, an event Esmee participated in as a solo driver.
Senior Hire Executive Lesley Warwick was able to attend and loved seeing Esmee complete the trials in a PCH Porsche vehicle, although it wasn’t realised she could use vehicles outside the Porsche brand.
“Esmee achieved a great time finishing 3rd in class, but we could have used one of our other supercar varieties capable of fastest acceleration speeds.
“The Mercedes AMG GTR or Nissan GTR, similar to those that finished faster on the day, would have performed exceptionally in the conditions… Next year!”
